While I have continued to work throughout the pandemic using video technology, I have been conscious that despite many of us becoming expert ‘Zoomers’, not everyone feels comfortable with the idea of ‘digital therapy’. It is also the case that some sessions will always be best handled face-to-face.
As we all begin to emerge carefully and tentatively out of lockdown, I am looking at which aspects of my therapy practice I can begin to reintroduce; how I will have to adapt; and at what pace.
As a psychotherapist and counsellor, I have always endeavoured to create a safe psychological and emotional space for my clients but due to COVID-19, I now also have to think about the safety of the physical space I provide. This inevitably creates some limitations to, and sometimes compromises in, how I work.
I’m pleased however, to be able open up some limited face-to-face availability in St. Albans and in Berkhamsted starting June 7, 2021.

In order to offer face-to-face sessions, it will be necessary to follow strict health and safety guidelines to make it as safe an experience as possible. Due to the need to prepare my rooms between sessions by undertaking extra cleaning and ventilation, I will not be able to offer as many sessions in a day as previously and may ask you to come in between hours rather than on the hour to accommodate this. This will also mean that weekly sessions will also always be given priority although these could be at slightly different times but as close to your preferred time as possible.
For most clients, even at this time, I would still encourage you to continue with, or (if a new client) consider trying, video calls as the safest and most flexible way of meeting with me. For those attending face-to-face sessions, I will provide detailed information on safety procedures at each location when you make your booking.
